My new job...

Well, my new job is going great!!! I haven't written any posts in a while, I have been very busy working!!

I work between 36-45 hours a week but, it is all good. I commute from my bed to my desk and when I am feeling lazy, I just open my laptop in bed. This especially works great for those late night classes when I work until 1AM!

We were given the go ahead to TTC at the beginning of this month. We are waiting too see if we have a little one on the way or if we need try again! I should know by Wednesday or Thursday and I cannot wait. I have been feeling certain symptoms like nausea, heartburn, and increased hunger but, I don't want to get my hopes up. I remember having increased hunger before my period was due before but, don't remember any nausea or heartburn since being preggers the last time.

We are still debating between the border and the Rancho. I am worried about going to the ranchpo because, when the power goes out there, it takes days to come back on and it goes out frequently. My job depends on having power! So, I don't know.

Miguel and I are not agreeing on where our baby will be born when he or she is on the way. He is stuck on me delivering in Atlanta, GA. I say that I will deliver where ever he is. We made a deal, that if we do not have enough money saved to cover delivery and a few extras by the time I am 6 months, I will deliver in GA.

I need to find out how to be able to come back to Mexico as soon as possible after the birth. I do not want Miguel to miss out on our baby's first days or weeks. This will probably be our only child together. Any advice, as usual?

  1. It took me 8 weeks to get back to Mexico postpartum, after getting his ssn & passport. That's mainly because I had to fly and was worried about the little guy getting sick on the plane at too young an age. Only advice is to go with what works for you guys. Since I was high risk, we agreed not to take any chances that would compromise the health or outcome of the baby. My husband was very adamant about this. I, like you, really wanted him to be involved, but even our OB in Mexico advised us to go back so I did. It's really only something you and your hubby can decide. Hoping for a +hpt for you!

    1. So, how long after the baby was born could you have left if you hadn't been worried about flying with a baby? I will be traveling by car, my brother would bring me back to Mexico.

  2. I love how you say you "commute" from your bed to your desk! Too funny! And it's great that you're working so much! What part of the world are your students from that you give classes until 1 AM? When I jumped on line to check out the program, I read that they needed teachers to give classes at those hours. Good for you! :)

  3. Can I start off by saying... I didn't know you had a blog? I am horrible at keeping up with this whole Blogger world. Anyway, I am happy I finally found it. :) I really wish I had advice but I don't. My husband and I have discussed where we would have our children in the future and we disagree as well. I'm with you, I want to be where he is and the idea of my husband missing the birth and the first weeks of life just doesn't sit well with me. I hope you can come to a compromise. Hugs amiga!

  4. Jackie: I give classes to students in the US, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Brazil, and other countries in Central and South America. There students taking classes still that late!!! I couldn't believe it but, I have 4 or 5 students many times at 1AM as do the other teachers!!

Emily: I hope we can come to an agreement soon, one that will be great for us!! I am still not too happy with Miguel's desire, nor do I understand it! I have a very good doctor who is professional and specializes in infertilty and high risk pregnancies. The only thing that could prevent me from delivering here, in my opinion, is not having enough money to pay upfront for the services and any emergencies that may come up. I would probably consider going to the States to deliver if I have any issues come up that might cause the baby harm or need extra specialized care after birth. Then, definitely, my baby's health is first and foremost to my desires. But, I don't see anythign lie that happening. Atleast, I hope not.

  5. I am sure he has some assumptions, as do most, that health care is inferior in Mexico? I don't know much about it because I have little to no experience about the Mexican medical system. I bet that has something to do with it. Or does he want his child to be a US Citizen and that's a concern? If so, look into registering a birth abroad because it seems to be a fairly simple process. Also look at this link: http://immigrate2us.net/forum/showthread.php?6704-Registering-Birth-Abroad This site also has some birth in Mexico experience threads which are really interesting.

  6. I'm a Gringa and both of my girls were born in Mexico because I didn't have health insurance back in the States.

I've registered them both in the U.S. consulate and they have their U.S. citizenship, BUT, and that's a big BUT, in order for them to pass on their U.S. citizenship to their children, my girls need to live in the States for 5 consecutive years after the age of 15. I think that sucks and I'm hoping between now and then, the law will change.

As for your teaching job, how do you get paid? Pay Pal? Do you have to report your income to the IRS?

  8. I habe no advice on the birth in US vs MX thing, unfortunately. :( but keeping my fingers crossed for you on the TTC front!

How sweet is it that your job is going well? I would love to apply for a job like that. To be able to work but still be at home ? My kiddos are too small to be un direct supervised, but maybe in a year or so! :)
